The Supreme Court bans affirmative action on June 29, 2023

Most pundits correctly predicted the 6-3 decision overturning affirmative action. Yet, no one knew exactly how the court would justify the overruling of a second institutional precedent just months after Dobbs.

The six justices who voted to strike down the decades old practice were just who you would expect:

Clarence Thomas: As one of the first African America students at Yale, he felt pitied by his white peers. They constantly asked if he needed help like he wasn’t just as smart as them. He view affirmative action as an obstacle to true equality amongst the races. He has rumored to have put a cigar sticker on his diploma because it’s worth nothing.
